FUN FACT: Alpha Chi Omega was originally called Alpha Kai Omega! Alpha Chi Omega was founded in the music school at DePauw University and the founders thought they'd be the first and last women's fraternity there, so they chose "Alpha" and "Omega"—the first and last letters of the Greek alphabet— for their name. "Kai" means "and" so they landed on Alpha Kai Omega. Later, they changed "Kai"to the Greek letter "Chi". We can't find any intel on why they made the change, but we think it was most likely just to be more consistent with the other Greek organizations that use letters in their names.
