Why Delta Gamma's Symbol is an Anchor

Delta Gamma initially adopted an "H" to symbolize hope in their original badge. However, by 1877, they transitioned to using an anchor. What prompted this shift from the "H" to an anchor? There are a couple of theories. The first idea is that the anchor pops up in the Bible as a symbol for hope, which might have sparked the switch. Then there’s a thought that maybe it all started with sailors. Since they count on anchors to stay put and navigate the seas, they naturally connect anchors with hope.
